Mutual Exchange and Mobility schemes

As a secure tenant you have the right to swap homes with another council or housing association tenant. If you do not have high priority for a transfer under our Choice Based Lettings scheme or you wish to move out of Westminster, this may be a way of finding another home.

Mutual Exchange

If you are a council tenant you may wish to consider a Mutual Exchange. One way of finding someone to exchange or swap homes with is through Homeswapper, which is the UK's largest service helping tenants of social landlords to swap homes. Westminster City Council has subscribed to Home Swapper which means that our tenants can register free. For more information visit the website or ask at your estate office. Some people also find exchange partners by advertising in newsagents or through word of mouth. Important

There are some restrictions on swapping. Importantly, you must get permission from your landlord before going ahead with a swap; if you don't, you could lose your home.
