The Service Improvement Group is a friendly, innovative group that meets regularly with officers from Westminster City Council and the Housing Options Service to discuss ways to improve services for people in housing need.
Anyone who is a customer of the Housing Options Service is welcome to come along and take part in our regular meetings.
'Hi my name is Susie and I have been living in temporary accommodation for three and a half years. How long has it been for you? I think the waiting time for permanent housing is too long. Do you think so too? I have damp in one of my bedrooms. Do you? When I called to complain about these things, I felt that nothing changed. Has this happened to you?
'I'm doing something about my complaints and concerns. You could be too!
'Come and join the Service Improvement Group. The group was set up to improve the service provided for us by Westminster Council and the Housing Options Service at Orchardson Street. If we speak up we can really bring about changes.
'Whether it is to have information written in a plain, easy to understand way, improving the attitudes of the staff dealing with our cases or something as radical as canvassing the Housing Commission to review discrepancies between 'Council' and 'Housing Association' bedroom requirements, we can have our say and not only have it listened to but have it acted on.
'I am speaking out and making improvements. You can too.
HOS holds regular event days where service users can meet our officers and find out more about their housing application. Find out more here.
