In Westminster, we believe that the best place for children and young people is with their families. However, there are occasionally times when this is not possible and we need adopters and foster carers in the community with whom we can find homes for children in need of care.
Westminster City Council is now sharing its fostering and adoption service with the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham and Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. The adoption services were joined in April 2012 to provide a dedicated service for adoption across the three west London local authorities.
This will help to ensure that children in our care are placed with the best possible families. It also means that we can devote more resources to helping find families for the children who need them.
