There is a range of help and advice available to older people in Westminster.

Forward from 60 - a handbook for older people

'Forward from 60- Every Older Person Matters' is a handbook which has been produced for older people living in Westminster. It gives information on a range of subjects which help you to make the most of your life and tells you where to get the right support or services if you need them.

Resource directory for older people

A directory for older people has been produced- titled 'Activities, opportunities and services'. This small directory provides details of a range of information that may be of interest and use to older people in Westminster.

Counsel and Care

Counsel and Care is an independent charitable organisation who have a lot of information on older people and the issues they face. They also have a telephone helpline.

 The National Careline                  

The National Careline  is a not for profit organisation which offers information about care and support for older people, their carers and their families.

The service is free and users can find more information at www.thenationalcareline.org or via the free helpline 08000699784.

Firststop Advice for older people

An independent, free service providing advice and information for older people, their families and carers about care and housing options in later life. FirstStop also offers useful information for carers looking for support and advice. The service, provided jointly by Counsel and Care, Elderly Accommodation Counsel, Age Concern and Help the Aged and NHFA Care advice brings together the expertise of each organisation through one telephone number and one website. Through advice and information for older people they aim to open up the options and choices older people might consider, helping them choose the right care and right housing at the right time.

Advocacy Plus (formerly known as Westminster Advocacy Service for Senior Residents)

There are occasions when you have a problem and don't feel confident or able to sort it out. It can sometimes be very helpful to have someone to act on your behalf, and speak for you.  Advocacy Plus can help you.

You will not be charged for any assistance you receive from the Advocacy service.
