Day Care Centres

We are changing the way we provide day care in line with the Governments policy direction on 'Personalisation'. In the future, more people will be given a 'Personal Budget' to meet their needs in an individualised way. See our information on Personalisation for more details.

Day care services are currently provided mainly by Housing 21 and can help you with:

  • getting involved in social activities
  • personal care such as bathing
  • developing your independence
  • exercise

There are two day care centres funded by Westminster:

  • Pullen Day Care SW1
  • Elgin Day Care W9

Following  a recent consultation period, the decision has been made to close Elgin centre on 31st March 2012. Those who are eligible for day care will be offered a Personal Budget to meet their needs in a way agreed with them. Those attending the Pullen centre are currently not affected.

There are also two day care centres for people living in the North of the City who have dementia:

  • Tresham Day Care NW8
  • Carlton Dene Day Care W9

Following a recent consultation on day care, it has been agreed that Carlton Dene day care centre will close and Tresham day care will move to a new state of the art health and social care dementia resource centre at Westbourne Park Road W2. It is anticipated that this will happen on 31st March 2012. All those who currently attend both centres will be assessed as to how their needs can best be met.

See our day care consultation page for more details

How do I get day services?

You will need to be assessed to determine if day care is appropriate for you. Find out more about assessments here.
