Young people

Many parents worry about their child becoming involved with drugs. They often feel that they don't know enough about drugs to help prevent their child from coming to harm.

Many young people also have questions about drugs and alcohol. For both parents and for young people, distinguishing the facts about drug use from fiction can sometimes be difficult.

If you are under 18 years old, or if you are a family member, friend or carer of someone under 18, there is special support available:

• accurate information about the associated risks and harms of taking drugs

• support and treatment for young people who are misusing drugs or alcohol

• support to parents/carers to talk to young people about their drug and alcohol use

• forums where parents/carers can talk to other parents/carers with similar concerns
