City of Westminster

Waste storage (planning advice)

Westminster is committed to maintaining Westminster as an attractive place to live, visit or work and Clean Streets is one of our primary objectives. All planning applications for new developments/redevelopments/change of use etc must therefore demonstrate that adequate provision has been made for the storage of waste and recyclable materials and, where achievable, this will include off street collection of waste.

To assist architects, guidance notes are available outlining the City Council's requirements. These also give examples of suitable waste management equipment. The guidance notes are available online, or if you prefer the printed version can be posted to you on request.

Architects should also refer to the City Council's Environment planning policies, as stated in the replacement UDP, which is also available online.
