How to recycle on the go

recycling on the go

Recycle on the go - it's easy!

There are hundreds of green and black litter bins across Westminster, with one end for recycling and one for rubbish.

You can recycle the following using the green end:

  • newspapers and magazines
  • plastic bottles
  • drinks cans and tins
  • glass bottles and jars.

Litter put in the black end goes to landfill, so use the black end for food scraps, greasy paper and plastic packaging.

2,400 tonnes recycling were collected last year from Westminster's litter recycling bins alone, helping the environment and saving Council Tax Payers' money.

NEW - talking bins

When you next use a litter bin on the street, listen out for a message to congratulate you on keeping your streets clean. There are 25 talking bins in Westminster. Find out more.
