Street noise in a busy City

Complete silence in a city is unrealistic but there are situations when street noise becomes a nuisance.
Buskers
Buskers are part of London’s culture. However, if they are playing outside your home or work building at an unreasonable noise level or time of the day, they can cause a nuisance.
Noise from pubs, bars and clubs
If you live near a pub, bar or club, there can be problems with noise late at night
Road works
Road works are a part of life and in order to minimise disruption to traffic and pedestrians, work is normally undertaken at night. Permissions have to be given for these works to go ahead during unsociable hours and every effort is made by construction teams to minimise the noise and nuisance they may cause to local residents.
Deliveries and collections
We ask those delivering and collecting goods in Westminster to work between the hours of 7am and 11pm. If deliveries and collections are a constant problem it would be useful to provide further information on the details of the vehicle and premises, how often it occurs and for how long it carries on for. If a vehicle is left with an engine running or music playing while parked we are able to deal with this.
If you experience any of these noise nuisances, please contact us.
We are unable to deal with noise from aircraft. If you are having problems with aircraft noise, contact the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). It has exclusive powers to deal with complaints in respect of aircraft (including helicopter) movements.
