Berwick Street

The council wants to promote a genuinely wider regeneration scheme for the entire Berwick Street site.

The main aims of new proposals will be to make the area cleaner and safer, to encourage the return of independent retailers and to formulate a long-term vision for the market's success.

This Planning Brief seeks to guide development in the site by setting out the planning framework and other material considerations for this large site in the center of Soho, which contains the following buildings/uses:

  • Kemp House and podium at 90-104 Berwick Street Ingestre Court
  • Trenchard House
  • Westminster Kingsway College
  • Berwick Street Market

The Berwick Street Planning Brief is part of a wider project for the Berwick Street area which is being progressed in partnership with the local community.

In addition to the Planning Brief, the Soho Action Plan adopted in 2007 aspires to promote Berwick Street as Soho's local high street and the Plan itself contains a number of actions to regenerate the local area:
