Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG)

Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPGs) expand on the Council's adopted policies to provide more detailed information than can be contained in the policies themselves. They give guidance to the public, applicants and developers when making planning applications.

The Council does not produce SPGs any more as they are replaced by Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs) under the planning system introduced by the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004.

Certain Conservation Area Audits, and Planning Briefs have also been adopted as Supplementary Planning Guidance.
