Revisions to the Core Strategy
The City Council is about to formally start two revisions to the Core Strategy:
- The NPPF Revision - to ensure the Core Strategy is in general conformity with the National Planning Policy Framework and update it since adoption (for example, the publication of a new London Plan)
- The CMP Revision - to insert the City Management Plan policies and any necessary supporting text into the Core Strategy.
The first stage of these revisions is to notify our intent to revise the Core Strategy. This is your opportunity to tell us what you think the revisions should include. For further information about the revisions, please click on the links above.
Interim Note on Affordable Housing Policy
This note sets out how the Council will apply affordable housing policy in the period between adoption of the City of Westminster Core Strategy (26 January 2011) and the adoption of the City Management Plan. It replaces the earlier version published during the Core Strategy EiP.

Affordable Rent
The City of Westminster Affordable Rent Statement agreed by the Cabinet Member for Housing and Property in September 2011 sets out the City Council's position on the new affordable rent tenure.
Obtaining a Core Strategy
The Core Strategy is available to download. Hard copies may be puchased for £50. Residents, students and voluntary organisations can purchase a copy at £15. Proposal Maps cost £40, Residents, students and voluntary organisations can purchase a copy for £20

- Issues and Options - consulted on over the summer 2007
- Preferred Options - consulted on over the summer 2008
- Publication Draft - consulted on between 12th November 2009 and 13th January 2010
- Submission Document - sent to the Secretary of State April 2010
- Examination in Public - Pre-hearing meeting 18th June 2010 and Hearings from 27th July to 5th August 2010. The Inspector's Binding Report was received on 10th November 2010.
