Core Strategy

The Core Strategy Development Plan Document (DPD)

Westminster City Council resolved to adopt its Core Strategy on the 26 January 2011.  The adopted Core Strategy and related documents are listed below:

These documents are also available for inspection at One Stop Services and libraries. Any person aggrieved by the Core Strategy may make an application to the High Court under Section 113 of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 on the grounds that the document is not within the appropriate power and / or that a procedural requirement has not been complied with. Any such application must be made within six weeks from the date of adoption of the Core Strategy –  by 9 March 2011.

Adoption of the Core Strategy and UDP policies

The adoption of the Core Strategy on the 26th January 2011has resulted in the deletion of further UDP policies. These deleted policies ares set out in Appendix 5 of the Core Strategy.

Interim Note on Affordable Housing Policy

This note sets out how the Council will apply affordable housing policy in the period between adoption of the City of Westminster Core Strategy (26 January 2011) and the adoption of the City Management Plan (anticipated mid 2012). It replaces the earlier version published during the Core Strategy EiP.

Affordable Rent

The City of Westminster Affordable Rent Statement agreed by the Cabinet Member for Housing and Property in September 2011 sets out the City Council's position on the new affordable rent tenure.

 

Stages of the Core Strategy

The Core Strategy is the main DPD prepared by the council. It sets out the key elements of the planning framework for Westminster, for the next 15-20 years. The Core Strategy includes a spatial vision and strategic objectives for the area, a spatial strategy, and a monitoring and implementation framework for achieving the spatial vision. It is being produced in a number of stages:

All of the Council's Development Plan Documents (DPDs) will be in conformity with the Core Strategy.

Obtaining a Core Strategy

The Core Strategy is available to download. Hard copies may be puchased for £50. Residents, students and voluntary organisations can purchase a copy at £15.
