There are a lot of sustainable schools initiatives to get involved in at Westminster. Below are just some of the initiatives we’re currently running – and don’t forget to check with our events page and latest seasonal e-bulletin for information on even more sustainable schools projects!
APRIL
New Sustainable Priorities for Schools - In September 2009 we sent every Westminster school our Sustainable Schools Questionnaire to find out what schools are doing to become more sustainable and what areas need more support from us. Thank you to all the schools that returned their completed questionnaires.
Having collated the results we now have a comprehensive list of sustainable priorities that schools have identified they wish to develop and this has helped us shape our programme of support for the year ahead. School’s number one priority is to become more energy efficient and to conduct comprehensive energy audits.
The Questionnaire summary report will appear on this page soon!
ONGOING
Westminster Sustainable Schools Network - formed by like minded teachers working to make schools more sustainable, this network group meets once every half term at a different Westminster school to get updated information and resources on sustainable initiatives. Host schools typically showcase their good practice initiatives, and there is often a guest speaker from an outside agency as well. Members of this network receive regular e-bulletins with details of new initiatives, free resources and funding opportunities.
