What the Council is doing to save energy

Westminster City Council has pledged to become carbon neutral by 2012. The council has also set itself targets to help reduce its carbon footprint: to reduce CO2 emissions by 10% before 2012 and 20% by 2020 (below 2005 levels), this will be equal to a reduction of 6,424 tonnes of CO2.

The council has signed up to the Nottingham Declaration - marking our commitment to addressing climate change and mobilising action in local communities.

We have carried out an energy audit of City Hall, our top energy consuming building and we are implementing a number of measures to reduce our energy consumption, supervised by our energy manager.
