City of Westminster

How often do we inspect?

The Food Team inspects all registered food premises within Westminster as part of a planned program. Premises are given a risk rating after each inspection. This rating then determines the length of time until the premises is inspected again. The rating system has been devised by the Food Standards Agency and Local Authorities must follow this.

Following an inspection each premises is rated on the following areas:

  • Type of Food and Method of Handling
  • Method of Processing
  • Consumers at risk
  • Vulnerable Groups
  • Significant risk
  • Hygiene and Structure
  • Confidence in Management / Control System

Premises are then rated and inspected according to the following table:
