Vulnerable Groups

Vulnerable groups of people refer to the young, the elderly (people who are under 5 and over 65 years of age), people who are sick and people who are immuno-compromised.

Normally, relatively large numbers of bacteria are required to cause illness in healthy adults, but vulnerable groups can be infected by lower numbers. Good hygiene and safety practices are important particularly when dealing with this group of people.
