Fridges and Freezers

Should be kept clean and at the correct temperature, fridges should be kept below 8 degrees C and freezers below -18 degrees C. Full fridges are harder to keep cold, so don't overstock. Fridges and freezers should be defrosted regularly to prevent ice build up. Raw meat, fish and eggs must be stored at the bottom or separate to prevent cross contamination. You should always follow manufacturers' instructions. In the event of a power failure keep the door to the fridge or freezer shut. For more information following a power failure please contact the Food Safety Team.
