Home energy use is responsible for 27% of the UK's carbon dioxide emissions which contribute to climate change. The refurbishment of existing buildings provides opportunities to significantly improve the energy efficiency of these buildings and reduce fossil fuel consumption and reduce occupants' fuel bills. The aim of this guidance is to help identify the opportunities that exist and point out the ways improvements can be made.
