Energy grants

Westminster Grants
  • Decent Homes Grants are available to owner occupiers on means tested benefits who live in a home that fails the decent homes standard

    It can provide up to £5000 for gas central heating, insulation, draught-proofing, serious disrepair and security measures.

  • Emergency Works for Heating - If your heating or hot water system breaks down and you are aged 60 or over, or have a child who resides with you aged 16 or less, you may be eligible for emergency repairs. You also need to be in receipt of one or more state benefits or on a low income.
  • The Council's home improvement agency will engage a contractor to attempt to repair your heating/hot water system provided that the cost of repairs is no more than £3,000.

Other Grants
  • The Warm Front scheme is the Government's main energy efficiency grant scheme. It provides heating and insulation improvements to households on certain income-related benefits living in properties that are poorly insulated and/or do not have a working central heating system.

    Qualifying households can get improvements worth up to £3,500 (£6,000 where oil central heating and other alternative technologies are recommended). Contact Warm Front on 0800 316 2805

  • Utility Company Grants are available from the major utility companies towards loft and cavity wall insulation.  Contact the London Energy Saving Trust Advice Centre on freephone 0800 512 012 for up to date information about grants and discounts.
