Transfer to secondary school - September 2012
Westminster Admission Team will write to resident applicants on 1st March 2012 to advise them of the outcome of their applications. Applicants resident in other boroughs will be notified by their home Local Authority. Online applicants will be notified by email through the Pan-London Eadmissions system on the evening of 1st March.
The notification letters and FAQ on this link explain in detail the next stages of the processes. If these do not answer your queries, please contact the Westminster Admissions Team on telephone number 020 7641 1816/1817 or email schooladmissions@westminster.gov.uk
Transferring from primary to secondary education is a very important step for both you and your child. Our aim is to make the transfer process a positive experience for you and your child. This year, Westminster will continue to co-ordinate applications for Westminster residents with all 32 other London boroughs as part of the Pan London Coordinated Admissions System. The admissions team will be working to ensure that, as far as possible, parents are offered their highest preference of London secondary school.
Details on the secondary schools in Westminster, and how to apply are contained in the Westminster secondary school admissions brochure, Westminster - your choice for secondary education. Copies are available from the Admissions Team or you can download an electronic copy here. The admission criteria for each school in Westminster are contained within the brochure and are also available online by clicking here.
If you are a Westminster resident you must complete the Westminster Common Application Form to apply for places at any secondary school. The closing date for applications (31st October) has now passed but if you have just moved into the area or missed the closing date for another reason you can still apply by downloading a form or contacting the Admissions Team for a paper form. On this form, you can express a preference for up to six secondary schools, including schools outside of Westminster. You must list them in order of preference. This means that you should write your first choice (ie the school that you most want for your child to go to) at the top of the list, your second choice below, then continuing with all your preferences. Applications received after the closing date will not be considered until after the initial offer date of 1st March 2012.

If you wish to apply for a secondary school in Westminster, but are not a Westminster resident, you must complete your 'home' LA's application form and follow their instructions for submission. The closing date for all secondary school applications was 31st October 2011.
Please note that most voluntary aided and selective schools have an additional supplementary form to complete, which are available from the schools direct. The schools in Westminster that require the completion of a supplementary form are listed on the attached link. If you are also applying for schools outside of Westminster, you should check with the individual schools concerned.
