Early Years Services

Early Years services are part of the Parenting and Early Intervention unit, within Westminster’s department for Children, Young People and Families.  Responsibilities include:

• Commissioning services for under-5s, including children’s centres, day nurseries and sessional childcare
•  Raising the quality across Early Years provision
• Ensuring the implementation of the Early Years Foundation Stage, including initiatives to improve outcomes at age 5
• Capital programmes for play and under-5s
• Leading on child poverty and employability initiatives
• Providing information and guidance to parents and families on Westminster’s children’s services
• Providing access to Children’s Centres to families across the City
