Young People's Scrutiny Panel

In September 2010, Westminster's first Young People's Scrutiny Panel was established to allow young people in the borough the opportunity to scrutinise local issues that matter to them and influence the council's decision making process.

From an initial membership of eight, there are now twenty young people aged 15-18 who have chosen to investigate the issues of youth anti-social behaviour and how to promote a more positive image of young people in Westminster. Councillor Ian Adams is championing the project which reports to the Children and Young People's Scrutiny Committee. The Panel presented its final findings in June 2011.

The Panel meets every two weeks to question and talk to key officers and representatives. In an innovative development, taking part also contributes to the young people gaining Duke of Edinburgh awards. To find out more please take a look at the Panel's newsletters below.
