Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to take my husband's name when I get married?
There is no legal requirement to take your husband's name after you get married. You can keep your own name if you wish and you do not need to notify anyone of that decision. However, you can decide to take your husband's name if you choose to.

Who do I have to notify if I decide to change my name?
You only have to notify those persons or organisations who have an interest in your identity. For example you will have to notify your employer, your bank, DVLA, HM Revenue & Customs - your marriage certificate is proof of your change of name.  If you need extra copies of your marriage certificate, it is advisable to pay for additional copies in advance as the certificate price increases after the ceremony date.  Please see out Current Fees for more information.

Where can I/ my guests park when visiting the Old Marylebone Town Hall?

If your ceremony is at the Old Marylebone Town Hall, there are a couple of options for those travelling by car:

Parking meters on side streets close-by. Upper Montagu Street has parking meters plus a blue badge parking space and is a one minute walk from our building.

NCP car park at junction of Marylebone Road and Gloucester Place (entrance beside the petrol station)

The loading bay outside our building is for pick up/ drop off only.
