LASC Core Services
Children and Young People
Highlighting activities that ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and young people. This will include research, UASC 18-24, project, policy and practices and legislation around children and young people.
Emergency Accomodation
LASC provides and manages emergency accommodation (EA). This accommodation temporarily houses young people awaiting local authority appointments to assess their entitlement to statutory support. The London Borough of Croydon operates the Pan London Rota which ensures the next local authority on the alphabetical list receives a young person from EA.
LASC works in partnership with Croydon Council and the Service Provider in the development and delivery of this service.
Monitoring
LASC provides a robust monitoring service and has revised its monitoring framework to ensure services are delivered as per specificaiton.
Monitoring visits occur every 3 months with a report submitted to Service Providers detailing the outcomes of the visit, and the resulting recommendations. Follow up visits also occur. Regular visits ensure that good standards of services are maintained at all times.
Local authorities can access reports upon request, and joint visits are encouraged.
Commissioning
The London Asylum Seekers Consortium (LASC) commissions accommodation and support services for children and young people entitled to S20 and Leaving Care Services. The accommodation is available to 16 -17 young people and those reaching 18 plus.
All accommodation and support services are monitored on a regular basis to ensure best value and high standards are maintained at all times. LASC works with local authorities to tailor services to meet young people requirements.
LASC develops service specification and a guideline for services commissioned.
