Networking & Influence

The Westminster Community Network

The City Council  funds the Westminster Community Network, which is currently hosted by Voluntary Action Westminster.

The Westminster Community Network enables greater collaboration and networking between voluntary & community sector organisations in Westminster. It also provides a mechanism for the voluntary and community sector to influence statutory decision-making in Westminster.

Working in partnership

The Westminster Community Network is a member of three key Westminster partnerships. These are the Chief Executives’ Stakeholder Group, the Health and Wellbeing Board and the Children’s Trust Board. More information about these partnerships can be found below.

Chief Executives’ Stakeholder Group (CESG)

The CESG’s main objective is to support key local organisations in working to improve the quality of life and wellbeing in Westminster. The group meets to share intelligence and ideas and to build positive and mutually supportive relationships. The group’s members are senior representatives of organisations and networks including the Council, Police, NHS, JobCentre Plus as well as from the business and housing sectors.

Westminster Health and Wellbeing Board (HWB)

Through the Health and Wellbeing Board, the Council has a responsibility to join up local health services, social care and health improvement services.

A shadow Health and Wellbeing Board has been established in Westminster, chaired by the Leader of the Council. Membership of the board includes two Westminster Cabinet Members, the Director of Public Health, the Directors of Adult and Children’s Services, representatives from Clinical Commissioning Groups in Westminster and the chair of the local LINk (patient involvement service).

The main functions of the Board include assessing the needs of the local population and developing a strategy to tackle those needs.

The Westminster Children’s Trust Board

The Westminster Children’s Trust is a partnership which brings together the organisations that are responsible for children, young people and their families in a shared commitment to improve children’s lives.

The Children’s Trust Board meets regularly to ensure that partners are working well together, and provides a framework for relevant agencies to fulfil the requirements of the Children Act 2004 and to develop and implement the Children and Young People’s Plan.

Board members are representatives from key partners including Children’s Services, schools, housing, health services, the Police and the voluntary and community sector. Partners work to jointly plan, commission and monitor services for children and young people in Westminster.

The Westminster Faith Exchange

The Westminster Faith Exchange is Westminster’s interfaith forum. Faith Exchange events are held several times a year and enable different faith groups to network with each other. The Faith Exchange also provides an important opportunity for dialogue between the City Council and faith groups in Westminster.
