What is CompeteFor?
CompeteFor is a procurement advertising tool, that allows the business community to compete for contract opportunities linked to major buying organisations including central and local government. It began as a brokerage service for the 2012 Games to match potential suppliers and buyers, encouraging equality and transparency of opportunity. The website is now being used by Westminster City Council to advertise most of its contract opportunities.
The City Council has retired its Approved List and suppliers are now encouraged to register on CompeteFor. Any business can register on CompeteFor to access thousands of opportunities linked to numerous buyers from both the public and private sectors.
CompeteFor also provides access to focused business support, building skills and capacity to boost the long-term competitiveness of London businesses. CompeteFor is working with Business Link in London and the Westminster Business Council to provide this service.
The benefits to suppliers:
- Features a simple, free to join registration process,
- Provides free access to a myriad of opportunities with major buyers from central and local government as well as the private sector,
- Provides access to focused business support via an automatic referral to Business Link for small businesses that aren’t “business ready”
- Is easy to use for all sizes and types of businesses. Businesses only need to register once and can then apply for countless contract opportunities advertised on CompeteFor.
Supplier Engagement
Registration is easy, free of charge and ensures that businesses are automatically matched with contract opportunities that they can then apply for.
Suppliers are encouraged to register by visiting the CompeteFor website at www.competefor.com.

Once a supplier has registered and published their business profile, they can use the CompeteFor Activity Centre to:
- View contracts that have been automatically matched to their business;
- Find additional opportunities using the search tool;
- Search for potential partners and partnership opportunities;
- View contracts they have responded to; and
- Publish their own contracts on CompeteFor.
