Street Trading Bill Consultation

Proposed City of Westminster (Street Trading) Bill

Following public consultation, Westminster City Council has deposited a new Private Bill, the City of Westminster (Street Trading) Bill, into Parliament on 26 November 2008. The Bill aims to deal with various aspects of street trading currently regulated in Westminster by the City of Westminster Act 1999, and touches on other issues, including the management of street trading pitches in the public realm, the use of tables and chairs on the highway, touting, and news vendors.

The City Council proposals which were subject to consultation are set out in the attached Consultation Paper (Appendix 2). The deadline for responses to this consultation exercise was 20 October 2008.
