Temporary structure, crane and skip licences
Westminster is an economically vibrant city and so levels of building and development are high. We aim to ensure the streets are safe for everyone and that any impacts are minimised through compliance with conditions attached to licences and the promotion of good practice for builders in managing their sites.
Types of temporary structures
You will need a temporary structure licence for scaffolding, hoardings, gantries and other related activities on the public highway.
Skips
If you want to place a skip on the public highway, you will need to obtain a skip licence.
Cranes and temporary traffic orders
You will need a crane licence to operate a tower crane or platform vehicle either on the highway or overhanging it. If you need to close a part of a road, you will need a temporary traffic order.
