Licence - highway projection
Application methods for statutory licences to construct all or part of a building under in or over a highway or to stop up the highway.
A section 177 Highways Act 1980 licence is for a part of a building which projects over a highway and not into a highway. The highway would remain intact. A section 247 Town and Country Planning Act 1990 order is appropriate when the building would obstruct passage along a highway and so change the boundary of the highway.
