Noise levels in Westminster are significantly higher than in outer London and the rest of the UK. The main source of noise is road traffic, but aircraft, construction work, neighbours and commercial premises all contribute to the sound environment, along with many other sources of noise.

Westminster City Council is addressing noise levels in several ways. For instance, we have a 24 hour noise service for residents, and we also work collaboratively with the police, CivicWatch and other partners to make sure we give a co-ordinated response to noise created by anti-social behaviour.
