Westminster hosts first accredited Parkour course in the UK

Westminster City Council is set to host the first accredited Parkour course in the country, recognised by the UK's leading qualifications body.

Parkour professionals will teach around 20 young people aged between 8 and 19 techniques and moves used in the discipline.

Free training offered to 75 food businesses in Westminster

Ready, Steady ... Exterminate! Businesses in Westminster were given free pest control training to manage the control of common pests such as cockroaches, ants, mice and rats that may be found in their food premises.

The training given to 75 businesses by Westminster City Council and the British Pest Control Association is the first training of its kind by a local authority in the UK.

Plans for UK's largest "one-stop-shop" for Soho LGBT community move foward

Plans for a "one-stop-shop" for lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender people in Soho - offering health and social care services, business support and an exhibition space all under one roof - moved a step forward today.

Tenders will now be received to find a consultancy company to carry out an in-depth feasibility study into the centre, which could model itself on the famous San Francisco LGBT Center(corr) and could be the largest dedicated LGBT centre in the UK.

Court of appeal rejects third attempt for judicial review

The Court of Appeal has rejected a third attempt for a judicial review over Westminster Council's decision to turn Pimlico School into an academy.

After a one day hearing, a panel of three judges threw out an application by an individual parent of current pupils at the school.

Broadley Street Gardens set to rise again

A popular local park has to temporarily close its gates for public use after the summer holidays following ongoing ground subsidence problems. It is set to get a 870,000 makeover in order to turn it into a new high quality park which when completed will meet national Green Flag park standards.

The project will see local residents play a key role in deciding on a new layout, landscaping and planting scheme, recreating a green haven in Church Street ward.
