Westminster recovers more than 250,000 from housing benefit cheats

Westminster City Council has recovered more than 250,000 from housing benefit cheats in the last financial year, according to the latest figures.

Over the same period 18 people were successfully prosecuted while 59 fines and 43 cautions were handed out.

Actress Pam Ferris has tea with the Lord Mayor of Westminster

Actress Pam Ferris joined The Lord Mayor of Westminster Cllr Carolyn Keen for a charity fundraising event at Hyatt Regency London - The Churchill Hotel yesterday (21st April).

Around 200 guests joined the former 'Darling Buds of May' star and Cllr Keen in aid of her Mayoral charity, Carers Network Westminster, which provides support and advice to carers in the city.

Westminster City Council bosses slash resident parking tickets

Parking bosses have cut by nearly 40 percent the number of tickets issued to resident permit holders in Westminster.

A new five minute allowance for resident permit holders has seen a big drop in the number of tickets handed out to residents, from 1,050 a month in 2007 to just 655 in March this year.
