Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership

The Safer Westminster Partnership

The Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership between Westminster City Council and partners

The Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership (CDRP) is a joint initiative between Westminster City Council, the Metropolitan Police and other partners.  It was formed in response to Home Office guidelines on improved measures to tackle crime, contained within the Crime and Disorder Act 1998.  The Crime and Disorder Act, as amended by the Police Reform Act 2002 and the Police and Justice Act 2006, placed a statutory duty on both local authorities and the police to work in partnership with local communities and relevant agencies to reduce crime and disorder.

The Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership's main objectives are to:

  • analyse levels of crime and disorder in Westminster
  • consult widely with the public to ensure the partnership's perceptions match those of local people and
  • to devise strategies and lead initiatives to tackle priority problems.
