Oxford Street

Your area
Oxford Street is London’s most famous high street. It boasts a large number of shops including department stores such as Selfridges, John Lewis, BHS and Debenhams, and many other high-street and independent shops and cafes. There are 38 licensed market pitches along the street. CivicWatch and the police Safer Neighbourhood team have several key issues they have been focusing on in Oxford Street, such as protecting shoppers from pickpocketing and bag snatches. The team have also been working to keep Oxford Street free from clutter by tackling illegal signage and leafleting, and encouraging those collecting for charity not to operate in a manner that causes distress to shoppers. Every shop in Oxford Street has been visited by the CivicWatch / Safer Neighbourhoods team. Police community support officers continue to visit the shops on a regular basis.
