What will the City Guardians not do?
There are a number of important differences between Guardians and police or enforcement teams. These include:
- The Guardians operate as a call-out service and attend incidents whenever possible within their hours of operation. However, due to service commitments and other events there may be times when Guardians are unable to respond to a particular request or event.
- Guardians do not issue any fines, penalties or notices.
- If a situation arises that involves physical conflict the City Guardians are not able to get involved or restrain people; they will instead call the police and act as professional witnesses. A Guardian will always try to diffuse a situation using their negotiation and conflict management skills.
- All criminal matters are passed directly to the police for investigation.
In an emergency you should always contact the police on 999.
