City Guardians Activities
The City Guardians undertake a varied range of activities that generally fall into three areas: community work, crime and anti-social behaviour, and environment. Specific examples of things that City Guardians deal with include:
- Environmental patrol of the main shopping roads
- Theft from motor vehicle hotspots and abandoned vehicles audits
- Audit of drug use and prostitute activity from the previous night
- Removal of prostitute cards on a daily basis
- Check rough sleepers location
- Reassurance patrols of libraries and housing offices
- Attending residents meetings and coffee mornings, acting as support mechanisms for vulnerable residents
- Provide a presence outside schools and colleges to deter anti-social behaviour and crime against the person
- Patrol stairwells on the estates
- Providing a presence along the main shopping streets, deterring begging and moving on young people that have congregated
- Helping to reduce the fear of crime
- Running sports sessions for young people as a diversionary activity
