Help with searching for newspapers and magazines

Newspapers, Magazines, and Journals in Westminster Libraries & Archives gives details for all periodicals held in Westminster Libraries and Archives. You can search by Title, Subject, Location, and Keyword using the forms provided.

Title Search
The drop down menu is arranged alphabetically. Most periodicals will have the article "the" omitted so you should choose "Times" as opposed to "The Times." Choose your selected title, then click "View Journal details."

Subject Search
Choose from a wide selection of subjects from Art, Fashion, Management, to Newspapers.

You can combine your search to include a particular Library AND a subject. For example, you can search all the newspapers held in Charing Cross Library.
This part of the catalogue is still under development, and searching by subject may not bring up all possible titles. You might prefer to search by keyword, or to ask a member of staff.

Keyword Search
Type in the box provided the name of the periodical, be warned though if you search for more than one word it will search for that phrase. For example searching for Asian Age will find this newspaper but searching for Age Asian will find nothing despite the search containing the same words. Also please note that the wildcard in this search field is entered automatically so if you want to search for both computers and computing just enter comput and this should find titles and keywords containing both these terms. Location
After finding your search, should you need further details of the library's location and its opening hours, please see the list of Westminster libraries.

For newspapers in other languages, search by country of origin: Germany for German newspapers, Spain for Spanish newspapers, etc.

Where a periodical is kept at more than one library, this will be indicated. Note that a library's periodical holdings may be in different formats (CD-ROM, Microfilm, Printed, Online).
