Lending service

The City of Westminster boasts 11 lending libraries, spread around the borough, each with its own unique identity yet part of an integrated service. While all our libraries offer computers for public use, events and activities, these libraries' priority is to offer a vast array of items for you to take away.

The resources of all Westminster libraries are available to you via the e-Library. You can renew your books and request items that are not in the library via the web or when you visit. If you are looking for books within a general subject area, then all our stock is sorted into categories.

What can I borrow?

We can offer you over 600,000 adult and children's books for loan (some in large print) and an excellent information service. Members can take out up to 20 books at a time! Anyone can join for free - it doesn't matter where you live in the UK - just produce proof of your identity and address. You don't have to be a member to use the reference and information services.

Recordings and videos:

You can hire both music and spoken word compact discs and cassettes, and a wide range of videos and DVDs, from a great selection - you'll find blockbusters, the latest hits and perennial favourites all at really competitive prices.

Special Collections:

The special collections of Music and Chinese resources all have a large number of items for loan.
