Get set....
READ!
This month, the National Year of Reading theme is 'Read the Game'.
Westminster Libraries can provide all kinds of sporty reads - from instruction books (eg: The 'Know the Game' series) to biographies (eg: Ryan Giggs), bestsellers (eg: Nick Hornby's Fever Pitch) to yearbooks (eg: Wisden).
Of course, if you want up-to-date sports reports, you can come in and look at the newspapers in all our libraries (find out which ones we have, and where, here) or go online using one of our many public computers. And as a library member you can look at historical newspaper reports by searching sites like News UK and The Times digital archive.
If you want to get active in the area, try searching our Community Information Database for sports clubs and facilities, or if you're more interested in watching than taking part, there are loads of films available to rent on DVD. Take a look at this list of films based on sports books - if there's a favourite of yours there, you could look it up in our e-library catalogue and have a read of the original!
There are also lots of useful links on the Sport & recreation page of the Gateway to websites - and Webtastic has some PE homework sites too. You can find out all about the Olympics - both 2008 and 2012!
And last but not least, if you are a child - join in with the Summer Team Read: loads of challenges and events on a sporting theme, all summer. For 11-16 year olds we also have a Read it to Win it challenge.
Take a look at the monthly theme pages for earlier in the year:
July (Rhythm & rhyme)
June (Escape with a good book).
