Learning in Libraries

Adult learning

Staff in all our libraries are happy to help you find the best books and other resources for all your learning and studying needs.

There are many self taught learning packages which can be borrowed and enable you to study at your own pace. Why not teach yourself word-processing or learn a new language?

All libraries offer access to the Internet, word processing and other computer-based support, and many have study space. Some Westminster libraries have extra provision for learners:

  • Marylebone Library  has a learndirect course centre run by the Exchange Group offering over 700 courses (from computing to languages). Telephone: 020 7224 0772
  • Queen’s Park Library - the Open Learning Centre allows you to study at your own pace, when and where you want.
  • Church Street Library - houses a learning centre with access to computers and a range of classes on offer, including basic skills, computer skills, job-seeking guidance etc.
  • Internet / Computer skills - many libraries offer Taster sessions to help you get the most out of your surfing, introduce you to using email or show you some useful websites.
