About Grove Art

Grove art is the online equivalent of the 34 Volume Dictionary of Art, and the Oxford companion to Western art. There are thousands of articles on various aspects of art and artists, and those involved in art such as scholars, writers and patrons. As well as text resources, there are also a vast number of images provided both as thumbnails within the database and linked to externally via their image search facility.

As well as this image search option and the quick search option there are several other useful search possibilities. You can use the:

• Concept, pattern, and Boolean searches in advanced search
• Browse facility
• Explore function: where and when, the movement/style, the person, or medium. You can also combine these to form a very exact search.

This resource is accessible from anywhere with an Internet connection. When outside Westminster libraries simply type the barcode number on your Westminster library card into the box indicated when you enter the Website.
