Introduction to WESTCAT

WESTCAT is the on-line catalogue of Westminster's Archives and Local Studies collections. It will be updated regularly.

What this database contains

WESTCAT contains details of all the archival collections. These include the official records of the City of Westminster and the former Boroughs of Paddington and St Marylebone together with parish registers and other parish records for these areas. The collections also include records deposited by businesses, estates, schools, clubs, societies, charities, institutions and private individuals. WESTCAT includes full catalogues of listed archival collections, some of which can also be searched on the Access to Archives web-site

In addition WESTCAT also contains selected images of prints and photographs drawn from the archival and local studies collection. Copies can be purchased through our Digital Scanning Service.

The library book catalogue is separate from WESTCAT and contains details of all the books and pamphlets held in the collection

Please remember, however, that WESTCAT is very much a work in progress and if you do not find what you are looking for, it does not mean that we don’t have relevant material. For further details of our holdings please contact us.
