Westminster Libraries, Archives and Arts aim to deliver core services to provide residents, visitors, employers and employees based in Westminster with a modern library, archive and arts service that meets the highest standards in terms of access, breadth of service, and efficiency and effectiveness, through a network of community and specialist libraries. The business plan contains seven key priorities for Westminster Libraries, Archives and Arts. These have been developed with input from key managers in line with corporate and national priorities.
2008/09 Business Plan Priorities
- Increase participation in libraries, archives and arts activities (including the National Year of Reading) across all Westminster neighbourhoods
- Modernise the provision of library and archive services in Westminster by providing customer focused and relevant services which are efficient and offer value for money
- Implement Westminster’s Strategy for Arts & Culture
- Deliver IT and on-line improvements to help expand service delivery
- Contribute to the economic development of Westminster by providing information and resources for the local business community and support for those seeking employment
- Extend the use of libraries as local learning centres to help learners at all levels increase their skills and qualifications
- Deliver a programme of staff development to help train and skill Libraries, Arts and Archive staff to deliver excellent services
