If you or someone living in your property is disabled you may qualify for a disabled facilities grant towards the cost of providing adaptations to enable the disabled person to continue to live there.
The disabled facilities grant is available for a range of works needed to help a disabled person to remain living more independently in their home.
The maximum grant available is £25,000. It is granted for the following improvements;
This grant is available to owner occupiers and tenants, however certain conditions apply. This grant is means-tested (unless the disabled person is a child) and you may have a contribution to make towards the cost of the works, depending on your financial circumstances.
Note - If you are a City Council tenant the Council will carry out whatever works are needed (or move you to a more suitable home) and you will not be expected to apply for a means-tested grant. Similar arrangements are in place for most housing association tenants.
You will need to contact us using the details listed below. A visit will be arranged to assess the disabled person's needs.
