Anyone can apply to Westminster Council for housing, but due to the severe shortage of available homes we cannot offer a home to most people who apply. Find out more about housing supply and demand in Westminster.

Who gets priority?

When you apply for housing, we look at your circumstances to see if you fall into one of our priority groups. The criteria for these groups are set out in the council’s allocation scheme.

If we give you priority, we will place you in one of four bands, A, B, C or S and will give you points depending on your circumstances. People in the greatest housing need get the highest priority. You can then bid for a permanent property through Choice Based Lettings.

If you don't qualify for priority, unfortunately we will not offer you a home and you will not be allowed to bid through Choice Based Lettings.
