Medical and Welfare Priority

Most homeless applicants are in Band C of Choice Based Lettings. However, under certain circumstances, we may award you extra medical and welfare priority.

What is extra medical and welfare priority?

If we give you extra medical and welfare priority, we will put you into Band A of Choice Based Lettings. We will also give you an extra 50 points.

When is it awarded?

We normally give extra priority to someone:

  • with a severe mental health problem, who is on 'Enhanced CPA', whose case is open and allocated to a Community Mental Health Team and who needs a high level of support;
  • who is registered blind;
  • with a serious disability, whose accommodation needs to be adapted to make it suitable for them
  • with a terminal illness; or
  • with a serious health problem who is waiting for major surgery.

If none of the above applies to you, we will not give you extra priority.
