Housing Options for Keyworkers

The Council’s Unitary Development Plan dictates that most affordable housing be social rented accommodation. However, a proportion of new affordable housing will be for Key Workers.

In 2003, the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (now Department for Communities and Local Government) set out which categories of Key Workers are eligible for Government-funded Key Worker initiatives. These initiatives are primarily Open Market Homebuy, New Build Homebuy (formerly Shared Ownership) and Intermediate Rent.

All Westminster Key Workers interested in housing opportunities specific to them are required to register with the Homebuy Agent, Metropolitan Housing.
