Social care and health

LINks - Have your say

What are LINks?

Local Involvement Networks (LINks) are a new way for people to shape and monitor their local health and social care services.

They give communities a stronger voice on how health and social care services are delivered and are open for anyone to join. They aim to:

  • listen to what people want
  • work with the services to make them better
  • look into problem areas
  • inspect services

LINKs launched nationally on 1st April 2008 and Westminster City Council appointed Voluntary Action Westminster to establish and run the network. There will be a LINk in every local authority area that has social services responsibility.

What services do they cover?

LINKs cover all publicly funded health and social care services (except children’s social services) no matter who provides them.

How can I get involved?

Anyone can get involved in LINKs, by:

  • subscribing to the Westminster LINk newsletter
  • attending the next LINK event in October (date to be confirmed) – an informal drop-in event with interactive exhibits and presentations. Look out for further information online or locally
  • joining the LINks mailing list. Call Gayle Muers on 020 7535 0499 or email gmuers@vawcvs.org

What are the advantages of LINKs?

LINks provide a system through which local communities can be involved in, and influence, health and social care planning and provision.
