Our city is enjoyed every day by over a million people as a safe place to live, work and socialise. Reported crime in Westminster has fallen by 17% in the last four years and continues to decrease.
The council and the police are working together to keep your neighbourhood safe. Each area in Westminster now has its own local police Safer Neighbourhoods and council CivicWatch teams.
Then you should become a CivicWatch Citizen.
CivicWatch Citizens are residents who care about their area and report issues that affect
their quality of life, such as abandoned waste, anti-social behaviour, street drinking or
graffiti to the council. In return for the commitment of citizens the CivicWatch team report
back on a monthly basis, in writing or electronically, so that citizens are kept updated on
what progress the council and our partners have made.
The way the scheme operates is that every individual or group who joins get a unique ID
number which they use every time they report anything. It is possible to report via phone,
online or free post. The citizens scheme currently has just under 800 members across the city.
