Adult Services

Welcome to Westminster City Council’s Adults Services Department website.

The Adults Services Department is responsible for arranging services for anyone who is 18 or over and has difficulty due to old age, long-term illness or disability, or who has a caring role.

People who may benefit from adult community care services are:

We aim to help as many people as possible with the resources that we have available. We also try to make sure that our services go to those who need them the most. To find out if you qualify for services you will need to have an assessment.

We aim to help adult residents in Westminster to live safely and independently, supported in their own homes or in a care home. To achieve this we work in partnership with health services, housing services, and voluntary organisations.

Our Values
The Adults Services Department and the services we arrange are informed by our values. We will:

  • treat you with courtesy and honesty and respect your dignity
  • help you to live as independently as possible
  • involve you in decisions and give you enough information to make informed choices
  • support and work with carers
  • help you to give us your views by providing contact details for advocacy and other representative organisations
  • treat you fairly on the basis of need and not discriminate against you because of age, sex, race, religion, disability or sexual orientation
  • encourage you to complain if your service is poor and guarantee that this will not affect the service you get in the future
  • keep information about you confidential and not share it without your agreement unless someone’s life is at risk or we have to by law

The Adults Services Department Business Plan sets out the key strategic priorities for services for  2008/09. Alongside the priorities for improvement, the Business Plan details the resources and activity that will enable the services to achieve their priorities efficiently and effectively and the risks that will need to be managed during the year.
